KAMRA Inlay (Presbyopic Correction)

A KAMRA® Inlay is a small implant that improves near and intermediate vision while maintaining distance vision. For patients with presbyopia or blurry near vision  this implant may reduce frustration and the need for reading glasses. The implant is smaller and thinner than a contact lens. It has a space in the middle, much like a doughnut hole. The inlay weighs less than a grain of sand.

In a short (20-minute) procedure, the KAMRA inlay is placed in the cornea of one eye. The eye with the implant will focus on near or intermediate vision, such as reading a menu or computer screen. The dominant eye will focus on distance. The inlay sits in the middle of the cornea. Smaller and thinner than a contact lens, the inlay is a mini-ring with a pinhole in the center. This pinhole allows only focused light to enter the non-domiant eye.

Most of our patients are highly satisfied with their experience and success.
